Holly Cheeseman

The Independent Party of Connecticut has endorsed Republican Holly Cheeseman as its candidate in the 37th Assembly District serving East Lyme, Salem, and Montville.

With the party’s endorsement, the name of Cheeseman, an East Lyme resident, will appear on both the Republican and Independent ballot lines on Election Day.

“I’m proud to be endorsed by both the Republican and Independent parties and I look forward to continuing my service to the residents of our great district,” Cheeseman said. “The Independent Party’s goal of non-partisan problem solving matches the approach I do my best to follow on behalf of the citizens that send me to Hartford to be their voice, and it’s the approach that we need more often in the legislature to make our state more affordable for all Connecticut residents.”

The Independent Party is the third-largest political party in Connecticut and has endorsed both Republicans and Democrats across the state this year.

A New London native, Cheeseman has lived in East Lyme for more than three decades. She currently works as a consultant to the Niantic Children’s Museum, having served there as executive director for the past nine years. She is Ranking Member of the General Assembly’s committee on Finance, Revenue, and Bonding, and is also a leading voice on societal issues such as impaired driving and suicide prevention.
